Day 67

Colton spent his first Memorial Day with mom as dad went out golfing. They spent the morning at the JCC as usual, but then met Grandma at Kohl's where they finally got some patio furniture, and at an incredible deal at that! The rest of the day, then, was spent admiring the new furniture and waiting for dad to get home so the family could go to an early dinner. Colton must have been worn out from all the Memorial Day celebrating because he was asleep at 8 and wouldn't even wake up for his 10pm dinner, which did not bode well for the night ahead!

Day 66

Colton spent his first Memorial Day weekend following in the family traditions: laying by the pool and having a cookout. Mom and Colton went over to Meme and Papa's pool for the afternoon. Colton had to have been the cutest baby surfer ever and loved being in the water, although admittedly he didn't make it very far or long! In the evening, he joined the Hobbs side of the family at a cookout. He had a good time visiting with everyone and has decided he really likes this summertime thing.

Day 65

After sleeping through the night again (yay!), Colton spent his Saturday running around town with mom and dad looking for patio furniture. Although they didn't find anything (surprise, surprise), Colton did an excellent job getting in and out of the car over and over again. He returned home to rest for the afternoon before meeting Uncle Ryan at Surfrider for some dinner. The most exciting part of the day, though, came at night, as Colton slept in his own room and crib for the first time!!! Mom and dad were both a little emotional watching the little man laying in there all by himself, but he fell asleep like a pro and once again made it all night:)

Day 64

Colton is 9 weeks old today and proving to be a grown up little man by FINALLY sleeping through the night consistently. Each night, he has slept about a half hour later, making it to 6 this morning, which makes for a very happy mom and dad! Colton also seems to have discovered his hands in the last few days, constantly sucking on them and trying to grip objects that he can see. Colton celebrated his birthday the same way he has celebrated most of them: with a trip to the Wild Wing. He sat out on the patio and even made friends with baby Olivia (Aunt Stephanie's niece), proving to be the lady's man mom and dad keep predicting he will be:)

Day 63

Colton was a fantastic little boy today (well, he always is, but today was exceptional). After sleeping until 5 (yes, we're making progress), he took another little nap with mom in bed. Once waking up for good, he went to the JCC where he stayed up for most of his time (he usually sleeps there) and then began a busy day of errands. Mom needed an oil change, but there was a two and a half hour wait, so Colton and mom hit the mall and Target to kill some time before returning. Colton was SO patient while the car was worked on for almost two hours. One lady even commented that he was "amazing," which of course we already know:) Colton finished his day off by walking Chipper, having dinner with the family, and then a trip to the Skinny Dip!

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Day 62

Colton turned two months old today! He celebrated by going to his two month old checkup. He now weighs in at 11 pounds, 2 ounces and measures 23 inches long, which puts him in the 50th percentile. After getting his shots, Colton decided he no longer wanted to celebrate his birthdays at the doctor's office. He slept most of the day away as he recovered, but woke up in time for dinner and to watch American Idol with the family.

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Day 61

Colton had to get off to an early start today. After he went to the JCC to start his day, Colton was back home to spend the day with his grandma and Chipper while mom joined dad and the Kletz side of the family at the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce awards banquet. Luckily, when mom returned home, she had really great news: Papa (and dad and Uncle Ryan and everyone else for that matter) had won Hampton Roads Small Business of the Year. Colton was VERY proud and decided to meet Papa, Meme, and Uncle Ryan for a celebratory dinner and drinks at Rudees. He even proudly toasted his Papa with bottle of champagne and a big smile!

Monday, May 24, 2010

Day 60

Colton started his day off lazily resting in bed with mom and Chipper, but once he was up, the day quickly got busy. He went to the grocery store with mom and then to mom's school to figure out exactly when she was going to go back to work (June 16th for just 4 days...I know it doesn't make much sense). Afterwards, he headed home to wait for dad so the three could take a trip to the JCC and dad could begin working out. As the days go by, we see further proof that our little boy is becoming a little man...he is smiling more and more and even managed to roll himself over again today (although arguably it was more of an accident!)

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Day 59

Today was Chipper's second birthday, so Colton spent the day celebrating with his big brother after taking Erin and Drew to the airport. Colton sang "Happy Birthday" and watched as Chipper devoured his celebratory pancake breakfast. Later in the day, Colton took Chipper to Pet Smart and allowed him to pick out a birthday toy and some treats. After that, it was back home to relax for the rest of the evening and wind down after what had been a busy few days for the family.

Day 58

Colton was a super-busy little boy today. With Aunt Erin in town, mom wanted to take advantage of her talents, so Colton's morning involved a photo shoot. Colton was a very studly model and did a fantastic job, although he did seem to forget that he wasn't wearning diapers and managed to pee on both mom and dad! After the crazy morning, it was off to meet Meme and Papa and Aunt KC and Uncle Ryan at the Hilton for some drinks and then dinner at Havanna...thank goodness this little boy seems to enjoy eating out as much as his mom and dad:) Once we got home, Colton seemed to be thoroughly worn out, but surprised us with the best gift yet...HE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! Now lets just see if he can repeat it...

Days 56 and 57

Colton has loved spending the last couple days (including his eight week birthday today) with his cousins Erin and Drew. He picked them up from the airport Thursday night, and then finally got to be held by Erin when everyone met Meme and Papa at Gordon Biersch for dinner. The next morning he was excited to wake up and see that they were here with us still. Colton took them to Rudees for lunch and then to one of his dad's favorites, Manninos, for dinner. Overall, he is just so happy that they are here to see him and can't wait to head down to Florida to see them again!

Day 55

Colton was quite the lazy bones today. After running a couple of errands with mom, he had a hard time keeping his little eyes open for most of the afternoon. He must be resting up for his busy weekend ahead. The good news is that with 3 nights in a row of sleeping until 4, mom and dad are excited that definite progress is being made in the sleep through the night mission:) Today's picture is not from today, but is one of my favorites that I haven't posted yet from our trip to DC. Can you say like father, like son....scary, huh?

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Day 54

As Colton was eagerly counting down the hours until his dad was back at home with us, he spent the day getting ready for some other very important visitors who will be with us in just a couple days: his cousins Erin and Drew. Colton ran errands with mom to buy some things for the guest room and bathroom, and then returned home to wait for dad to get back. Luckily, his flight was right on time (actually a little early) and Colton got to spend the evening with his whole family back together:)

Monday, May 17, 2010

Day 53

With dad still away, Colton and mom woke up hoping the air conditioning would be able to fixed today. Luckily, the part was in and the rain held off just long enough for One Hour to get the job done. Chipper made sure to make the day nice and exciting, as he left to go explore his neighborhood for a good 25 minutes. Luckily, he was found sniffing away one street over, but mom has decided dad is never allowed to go out of town again...it must be bad karma. After the morning adventures, mom and Colton settled into their routine...hitting the JCC and then running a quick errand before coming home to rest up. Colton was lucky to get to spend his evening being quite the ladies man...mom met up with some friends and Colton hammed it up, attracting all of their attention!

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Day 52

Wow! What a day...Dad had to leave bright and early this morning to go out of town for work. When mom and Colton woke up a couple of hours later, they discovered the air conditioning was not working...Luckily we know a good company to call for that, so Colton and mom spent the morning with two lovely men from One Hour who informed us that the compressor was indeed bad and that we would be going at least the rest of the day and night with no air conditioning...super! Colton was a trooper, though, and spent the day with mom and Chipper. At night, Meme and Papa showed up for a visit and to take Mom and Colton out for dinner. Dad is going to be super jealous that they ended up at Ruth's Chris:) where Colton was as fantastic as always!

Saturday, May 15, 2010

Day 51

Colton had a lovey Saturday with the family. In the morning, he, mom, and Chipper went for a walk at Mt. Trashmore. After he got home, his grandparents (Hobbs) came over for a visit. That night, he got to go over to Meme and Papa's house who anxiously were awaiting babysitting him. They were very excited to have the opportunity to take him out to dinner with just them, and so off he went to Surfrider. Mom and Dad showed back up to take him home and enjoy one last night together before dad headed out of town for a couple days.

Friday, May 14, 2010

Day 50

Colton is seven weeks old today! Our weekly email said that he would now be able to grasp things...he has been doing that for weeks, oftentimes with us having to pry his little fingers off of mom's hair, necklace, etc. because his grip is so strong. Further proof that our little guy is advanced:) We did notice yesterday, though, that Colton has started trying to touch the rattles and other toys on his playmat. It is now keeping him very occupied with all that to look at and touch! Colton's seven week birthday did not start out very well as he got kicked out of the childwatch at the JCC; it was totally mom's fault (he didn't have any diapers to be changed into), but embarassing nonetheless. The day got much better, though, as he returned home to take Chipper for a walk, spent his afternoon laying out in the sun (no worries...he was in his sun hut), and then accompanying mom to her haircut. At night, he hit the Wild Wing with mom and dad and then relaxed on the back patio for the rest of the night with the whole family.

Thursday, May 13, 2010

Day 49

Colton had a good day today. Although nothing out of the ordinary happened (Meme did stop by for a visit), Colton was extra-adorable, making really cute faces, lots of smiles, and trying to talk to us throughout the day and night. He discovered his Boppy pillow (I swear, this child has every baby "toy" known to man!) and really enjoyed lounging around on it, of course under the watchful eye of his big brother.

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Day 48

Wednesdays are errands days for Colton and mom, and today proved to be very busy stopping by the JCC, Target, and the One Hour office. To top it off, Colton was surprised by a visit from his great grandparents and great Aunt Debbie (again, the Virginia Beach one) when he arrived home. All that getting up and being put back in the car must have really wore Colton out as he was pretty cranky for the afternoon. Turns out, he must have been starving because he gulped down 9 ounces (thats a whole lot for him!) before going out to look for a mattress with mom and dad (for his cousins Erin and Drew's visit next week which he is eagerly anticipating) and then to dinner with his family. He was wide awake for dinner and even attempted to flirt with the waitress, giving her his best smile:)

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Day 47

Another day, another day of Colton enjoyment! Colton and mom had a very mundane day...JCC in the morning and then back home to hang out until dad got home from work. Colton is beginning to "stand up"...ok not really stand, but he is using his little leg muscles to attempt to stand. Obviously someone needs to be holding him for this to be at all possible, but he is clearly getting ready to use those legs soon:)

Monday, May 10, 2010

Day 46

Now that Colton is six weeks old (!), he can officially be dropped off for babysitting while mom works out. As a Mother's Day present from Meme and Papa, Colton and mom started off the day at the JCC getting used to the place and especially to the idea of leaving Colton in the childwatch. Mom was officially one of those parents who was a nervous wreck, but Colton was fantastic as always (actually he slept the whole time, but still!). After the gym, we stocked up on groceries for the week and then headed home for the rest of the day. Colton keeps getting more and more animated daily. He seems to especially enjoy looking over mom and dad's shoulders at everything there is to see.

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Day 45

Today was mom's first Mother's Day and, obviously, Colton had a big part of the festivities:) It is amazing how such a little man can make so many people so happy! Colton started off the day by helping his daddy give mom her present (diamond earrings...another good influence Colton has had on his dad). Then the family went out for breakfast. Colton's grandmother didn't want to meet us for breakfast, so he stopped by her house before heading over to his great grandmother's house for a visit there (with a stop for a new car battery on the way, as mom's car wouldn't start!). After all the visiting, mom went on a walk with all three of her boys before going to Meme and Papa's house for appetizers before dinner at Zia Maries. In the end, it was a fantastic Mother's Day, the first of many more to come, and just further proof how fortunate we are to have this beautiful baby boy in our lives.

Days 42, 43, and 44

Colton spent his last few days in Washington D.C. He slept during the whole drive up, but woke up to head out to lunch in Dupont Circle. Afterwards, he went for a walk with mom and dad who were trying (unsucessfully) to find the Real World house. The walk must have wore him out because he went back to the hotel to rest up until Aunt Genna arrived to babysit while mom and dad went to the Braves-Nationals baseball game. The next day Colton was up bright and early to visit Aunt Genna at her school and then to do some shopping at the Crate and Barrell outlet and in Georgetown. He capped off his trip with a visit to The Palm steakhouse, where even the host commented on what a fantastic baby he was. Colton returned home the next morning, although this time he was wide awake for the whole trip and capped off his day by heading over to Uncle Jordan's to meet his new puppy, Mojo. It was a very busy few days, but the undeniable highlight was noticing that Colton is DEFINITELY smiling now. The new game around the house now is trying to see that beautiful smile as much as possible!

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Day 41

Colton spent his day by heading to Mt. Trashmore. Mom's class was there flying kites for a field trip, so he went to visit the first graders. They really enjoyed seeing him and couldnt believe how big he had gotten since his last visit. After being out in the heat, Colton was exhausted and slept away the afternoon, but woke up in time for a Cinco de Mayo celebration at, where else?, Wild Wing!

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Day 40

Colton had to get an early start this morning, as Chipper had a haircut appointment bright and early to get to. He left the house around 8, and was up and about for the rest of the day. Colton even had a special treat today: he got to spend some time with his Papa who graciously offered to babysit so that mom could go workout. Other than that, Colton spent the rest of his day running errands with mom, going back to pick up Chipper, and staying wide awake! (he only took one nap from 2-4, but it still did not result in sleeping through the night...we are still waiting patiently for that:)). At night, Colton spent time with his two favorite boys: his daddy and his brother Chipper:)

Monday, May 3, 2010

Day 39

Colton had another fantastic day hanging out with his mom and dad (once he got home). Colton is now pretty much holding his head up on his own, although he still needs a little bit of help now and then. He is practicing his new head talent a lot, looking around all over the place, and holding it up when he is on his playmat. Our little man is getting so big so quick!

Sunday, May 2, 2010

Day 38

Today was a very lazy, uneventful day for Colton and the family. Dad was still busy with the phone and weather, so Colton spent the day hanging out with him in the office at times and running a couple errands with mom. No worries, though, he certainly still got his fair share of attention. You can see just how alert he is these days by looking at those BIG eyes:)

Saturday, May 1, 2010

Day 37

Ninety degree weather in Virginia Beach meant two things:
1. Dad was busy at work
2. Colton and Mom (and Chipper) got to go down to the Boardwalk with Katie and Savannah for a nice, HOT walk.
Colton enjoyed being out and about, but the warm weather seemed to really wear him out, as he spent most of the rest of the day napping. He did manage to wake up for a little bit when it was time for a cookout at Grandma and Grandpa's house, but was quickly back asleep for the rest of the night.
