Year 2, Day 64

Colton was up bright and early to head back to the babysitter's house (12 days left, but who's counting?!?).  He had a good day there, but all the fun of the weekend must have caught up with him by the time he got home because he was pretty fussy for most of the afternoon/evening and fell asleep as soon as dad put him down in his crib!  On a side note, check out the fun Colton had with his chicken nuggets tonight at dinner.  Mom had stepped outside for a minute to turn off the sprinklers and came back to find Colton's lineup...

Year 2, Day 63

After two days spent in the hot sun, Colton made sure to spend most of the day inside today.  Thank goodness, though, he does seem to have inherited mom's skin tone (as opposed to dad's paleness) as he does have a pretty darn cute tan going on these days.  But back to today...Colton spent his day playing with the iPad, helping mom and dad set up his new playroom, and playing in his sandbox  (yes, there is actually sand in there now!).  For dinner, he joined mom and dad at Wild Wing and then came home to a surprise visit from his great grandfather and Judy.

Year 2, Day 62

Colton had another fantastic day today, spending most of it at the beach again.  He joined Meme, Papa, Uncle Ryan, Aunt KC, Aunt Genna, Jenn, Kristina, and Davy for a day of fun in the sun.  It took him a little bit to warm up to the water again, but once he did, he was very happy to be there again.  As the day wound down, Colton headed up to a cookout with everyone and a few others, including dad, who had arrived just for that part of the day.

Year 2, Day 61

Although the day started off cloudy and rainy, Colton still made his way over to Meme and Papa's house, confident that the sun would eventually shine through and he could enjoy a beach day.  Well, luckily he was right...it turned out to be a perfect beach day and Colton LOVED every minute of it.  He played in the sand, splashed in his pool, and even grew very fond of the ocean (in fact, he is becoming a little dare devil) by the end of the day.  After the beach, he went for a quick swim in the pool with Meme.  He liked it in there as well despite the fact that Meme missed the deeper water and almost dropped poor Colton in the water (no worries, she kept him up and Mom was there to help out).  After a nap and a bath, Colton met Uncle Ryan, Aunt KC, Aunt Genna, and Jenn for dinner out in Norfolk.  Two separate people stopped to comment on how cute our little man was...it must be his newly sun-kissed skin!

Year 2, Day 60

After the babysitters reported that Colton was in a bad mood today, mom was a little worried, but Colton was just fine once we got home.  Mom even whipped out Colton's new pool for a little impromptu splash session.  He loved the pool, so much so we even had to take off his diaper and allow him to do some skinny dipping.

Year 2, Day 59

Colton had another normal, fairly uneventful day.  The highlight is that he is now waving bye-bye to mom when she leaves him at the babysitter's...well, he has done it 2 days in a row now, so we're thinking it's going to be a consistent thing.  After a nice day, Colton quickly hit the grocery store with mom to replace some of the groceries that were lost from all those hours of no electricity.  Then, he came home to play, eat, and spill a whole box of baking soda.

Year 2, Days 57 and 58

Colton had quite the eventful day yesterday.  After leaving the babysitter's house, he stopped by the JCC with mom.  While there a MAJOR storm came out of nowhere.  Power went out at the JCC and Colton had to evacuate the babysitting room with the other children and sitters.  Mom met him in the lobby where they waited out the rest of the storm.  Once home, they were not happy to find out there was no power at the house either.  So, Colton loaded back into the car and went to meet dad for dinner.  Unfortunately, there was still no power when he got back (or for the next 7+ hours for that matter), so Colton had to go to bed without a bath.  Luckily, today was much more normal.  Colton went to the babysitter's house, back to the JCC, and then home for dinner, playtime, and a much-needed bath.

Year 2, Day 56

Happy Birthday Chipper!  While this blog is usually devoted to our human child, today is our first child's birthday, so of course, the whole family did as much as they could to celebrate despite having to work all day.  After all, Chipper is Colton's best buddy, evidenced by his first/favorite/only word "dog" that he mutters every time he sees something with four legs.  Back to the celebrating, Colton took Chipper to the pet store with mom when they got home from work to pick out a special birthday toy for Chipper.  For dinner, Colton watched Chipper eat his birthday pancakes and then played with Chipper's new toy with him.

Year 2, Day 55

Colton has spent the weekend in Washington, DC (well, Arlington actually) visiting his Aunt Genna.  He left Friday afternoon and was very intrigued to be in his big boy car seat for the first time.  After a lot of traffic, his spirits were still high when he arrived at Aunt Genna's.  He was a total trooper at dinner, staying happy all the way through and even joined everyone for a quick walk around Georgetown.  On Saturday, he started off his day with a trip to the Eastern Market and then visited Olde Towne Alexandria for some shopping.  After getting lunch, he and dad went back to the hotel for a nap while mom joined the ladies for some more shopping.  For dinner, he headed to Old Ebbitt Grill.  Sunday morning, Colton was up nice and early to get ready to pick up his brother and head home.  (On a side note, Chipper was the star of the trip...he was so well-behaved in the car we even forgot he was there!).  For dinner, he met up with Meme and Papa at the Back Deck.  He enjoyed hanging outside in the gorgeous weather.

Year 2, Day 54

Colton enjoyed his day at the babysitter's house and then came home to help mom walk Chipper.  Once he got home, he enjoyed a lovely dinner of stuffed shells and garlic break...let's just say he thoroughly enjoyed it.  After diner, he enjoyed more play time before hitting the sack.

Year 2, Day 53

Colton was excited to return to his friends and toys at the babysitter's house today.  He was a very good boy today from what we hear.  After mom picked him up, they headed to the JCC for a bit and then went out to dinner at AJ Gator's with dad before coming home and going to bed.

Year 2, Day 52

Instead of heading to the babysitter's house today, Colton spent the day at his grandparents' house.  He returned home and had some fun playing with mom, dad, and Chipper.

Year 2, Day 51

Colton had a pretty typical Monday...first at the babysitter's house and then at the JCC.  After joining mom and dad for dinner (where he discovered how yummy pineapple is), he was happy to hit the bath, brush his teeth, and go to bed.

Year 2, Day 50

It was a really nice Sunday here in Virginia Beach, so Colton took advantage of the weather and went over to the Fun Forest (a park/playground) in Chesapeake.  He had a good time exploring the park and walking around, although he definitely did NOT like the slides!  After the park, he had another special treat when he stopped at 7-11 for his first Slurpee which he was a huge fan of!  After resting up, he went back out to join mom and dad for dinner at TGI Fridays.

Year 2, Day 49

Colton had an action-packed Saturday.  He started off the day with a quick trip to the mall with mom.  Afterwards, he went to mom's school's carnival.  He was quite the hit and really enjoyed running around all the action, especially the rubber ducky game once he got the hang of it.  After watching some of mom's students in the talent show, he headed over to Meme and Papa's house, who were nice enough to offer to watch Colton for the afternoon and evening so mom and dad could have some downtime and a nice dinner out.  Meme and Papa reported Colton was fantastic during his time there...he loved playing on the beach (with the dogs particularly, but is still not a fan of the water), was giving kisses to their statue, and was particularly fond of their steps and decks.  They took Colton out to dinner at Surf Rider, where apparently a man commented that Colton was "amazing"....agreed!  Mom didn't manage a picture yesterday, so here is a good one from a couple of days ago:

Year 2, Day 48

Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday...it actually wasn't mom's fault this time.  Blogger (the site that hosts our little blog) had an epic fail and was down for 24+ hours.  But no worries...we are back now, and Colton has been up to some major cuteness and has quite a few pictures to share from his last couple of days.  He spent them like normal at the babysitter's house who did report that he has been a very good boy recently (he went through a streak a few weeks ago there).  Tonight, he joined mom and dad for dinner at Wild Wing and then was glad to go home, get in bed, and start his weekend!  And now, as promised, major cuteness...

note how much hair Colton has now...someone needs a haircut!

Year 2, Day 47

Colton had a pretty normal, uneventful Wednesday.  He spent his day at the babysitter as usual and then headed to the JCC with mom.  He is very proud to be able to walk in and out of the JCC like a big boy now (he doesn't even need mom to carry him!).  After the JCC, he came home to play with everyone and ham it up.

Year 2, Day 46

Colton enjoyed his day at the babysitter, although it turns out mom got him the wrong medicine for his rash on his bottom, so it's still not getting any better.  They stopped for some new stuff, so hopefully it will finally improve.  Once home, he took Chipper for a walk and then came home to eat some spaghetti.  Colton really enjoyed the spaghetti, despite the fact that these pictures don't show it (they were taken when Colton was ready to get out of his chair and hit the bathtub).

Year 2, Day 45

Colton had a nice day at the babysitter, especially with a new dog there that he supposedly loved playing with (it was a 95 pound boxer!!!).  Once mom picked him up, he headed to the JCC for some more play time and then picked up a quick Mexican dinner with mom and dad.  When he got home, he was exhausted, so he took his bath, read a story with dad, and hit the sack.

Year 2, Day 44

Happy Mother's Day!  Colton spent the day spoiling mom with his love and cuteness (as always!).  In the morning, he and dad took mom out to breakfast and then the three of them ran a couple of errands, including getting Colton's big boy car seat.  In the afternoon, all of Colton's Virginia Beach family members came over from both sides of the family to have a Mother's Day cookout that dad was nice enough to plan, cook, and clean up.  Colton was definitely the center of attention once again and had a blast playing with everyone
