Year 2, Day 35

Colton had a good day at the babysitter's house and then was excited to head home for some play time with mom.  Once dad got home, the family went out for dinner at Wild Wing Cafe.  Colton loved his chicken fingers and mac and cheese as always!

Year 2, Day 34

Good news!  Colton was much better behaved today at the babysitter's house...all his timeouts the night before must have taught him a lesson.  After leaving the babysitter's house, Colton and mom were quick to get home and beat the storms (although they turned out to not be that bad).  Colton did have a good time playing and may have finally learned to wave hello.  He also enjoyed playing with his new Steelers bear (thanks to one of mom's students) while eating his dinner.

Year 2, Day 33

Colton in time out...
a new regular occcurance around here
Colton had another lovely day, but got into some more trouble at the babysitter's house.  They claim he is becoming "quite the handful" (although at least they say this with a smile...usually) and that he had to be placed in time out multiple times.  They did also say that Colton was the most stylish kid at the daycare, though, so at least he has something going for him!  Mom and dad have decided Colton's playing with Chipper is probably the culprit of his bad behavior, so they are going to have to be carefully watched from now on!

Year 2, Day 32

Colton had a lovely day at the babysitter's house today, although she did report that he continues to have some trouble getting along with the other baby that is his age.  Supposedly, he knocked the boy down today and then tried to stand on top of him (hehe!).  I guess we'll have to start really getting on top of that discipline stuff.  Dad had called to say he would be working late tonight, so mom and Colton stopped by McDonalds to pick up some dinner.  This was Colton's first happy meal, but honestly, he didn't seem to impressed with the thing.  As always, he did enjoy playing with mom and Chipper before going to bed:)

Year 2, Day 31

Sadly, Colton had to return to the babysitter's house today as Spring Break is officially over.  Now, the real countdown is on...38 days until the end of the year!!!  The babysitters did report that Colton was in an especially good mood today, though.  At then end of the school day, the JCC was closed, so mom and Colton headed home to enjoy the nice weather with Chipper.  Colton had a blast outside with his brother and mom had fun being mama-razzi.  He must have worked up an appetite as well, as he ate 2 full hot dogs for dinner!

Year 2, Day 30

Happy Easter!  While this was technically Colton's second Easter, he was only a few days old at last year's celebration, so this one invovled a bit more celebrating, including Colton's first Easter basket, which he eagerly opened this morning.  Colton (and Chipper) loved everything that was in it.  He was especially happy to be able to have a Peep for dessert later on in the day.  Other than the basket, Colton is still a little too young to participate in an egg hunt, so he headed over to see Uncle Ryan and Aunt KC's new house and join them for brunch.  After that, it was back home for a day of relaxing around the house an dtrying to get back on schedule because sadly Colton has to return to school tomorrow.

Year 2, Day 29

Colton slept in a little this Saturday morning and then got up to run some errands with mom.  Don't feel too bad for little man, though...most of the errand running was for him as he got some more new clothes and fun goodies for his Easter basket.  At night, he went over to Uncle Jordan and Aunt Stephanie's house for a lovely cookout.  Uncle Jordan was nice enough to grill Colton some hot dogs on the grill while the adults enjoyed steak.  He had a good time playing but was up pretty late again!  Tomorrow will certainly be a rude awakening as Colton has to get back on his school schedule.

Year 2, Day 28

Colton had a very busy day again today.  After dropping mom's car off for her inspection (he had experienced his first police pullover earlier in the week because the inspection was overdue...no worries, though,  mom didn't get a ticket!), Aunt Genna picked him up to go shopping.  Colton was a good sport as mom and Aunt Genna dragged him through store after store, and he really had a good time once he was allowed to get out of his stroller in Nordstrom and walk around.  All that shopping made everyone hungry, so Colton stopped at Bakers Crust for lunch before going back to get mom's car.  Once home, he took a nice nap and then woke up to get ready to join the Kletz family at Press 626 for dinner.  Colton was such a good boy at dinner, although he did give everyone a little scare when he almost fell through his highchair!

Year 2, Days 26 and 27

Colton has been so busy enjoying his Spring Break!  Yesterday, he started off the day by taking his brother to the vet (no worries it was just a checkup).  Colton comforted Chipper as his blood got taken and then played in the room during the rest of the exam.  After the vet, he met Aunt Genna at the house to go run buy some plants (for mom), visit the playground, and get a nice lunch out at California Pizza Kitchen.  Colton liked the playground, although he is still too little to do much there.  After taking a nice long nap, Colton woke up to join mom and dad for dinner.
Today, Colton had more fun with mom and Aunt Genna.  Again, he ran a couple of errands and then went swimming at the JCC.  Colton was not a fan of the pool at first, but liked it better once we found a warmer pool (the therapy pool) for him to try.  When Colton woke up from his nap this afternoon, he was totally rambunctious and mischievous!  I think the little boy in him is starting to come out!

Year 2, Day 25

Colton had another fantastic Spring Break day.  After staying up late at Meme's the night before, Colton slept all the way until 8 this morning!  Once up, he got ready for a fun-filled beach day with Meme and Aunt Genna.  Colton LOVED the beach...he explored, he played with his sand toys, and he ate the sand.  Colton had a blast, but the day in the sun wore him out, so he was very happy to take his nap.  Once he was up, he took a nice bath and then got ready to go join Dad for some Mexican for dinner.

Year 2, Day 24

Colton had a fantastic start to his spring break today.  He managed to sleep in until 7:30 (well, actually he was up for awhile and playing in his crib so mom left him to do that!).  After breakfast, he visited the JCC and Home Depot quickly and then came home to play with mom and Chipper.  The three attempted to play in the front yard, but Chipper managed to chew through his leash in about 3 minutes, so that plan had to be ditched.  Once Colton woke up from his nap, it was time to get ready for Seder.  Aunt Genna came to pick him and mom up to go to Meme and Papa's where he enjoyed his 2nd Seder with mom, dad, Meme, Papa, Uncle Ryan, Aunt KC, Aunt Genna, Uncle Brian, Aunt Patty, and cousin Mary.  He loved trying all the foods and, of course, being the center of attention.

Year 2, Day 23

Whew...Aunt Genna must have really worn Colton out last night because he slept until 9 this morning (by far his latest ever!)  Once waking up, he was off to run some errands with mom and dad...a nice little Sunday at the Home Depot, Pet Smart, and Bed Bath Beyond.  After a lovely mac and cheese lunch, Colton took his nap while mom and dad cleaned out the closets.  When he woke up, it was time for dinner at the Outback and then back home for some more playing before going to bed, although he was allowed to stay up a little later since he doesn't have to wake up in the morning.

Year 2, Day 22

Colton spent his Saturday morning running a couple errands with mom.  He has become quite the good shopper over the past year, entertaining himself quite well in the dressing room!  After coming home to take an afternoon nap, Colton had to get all spiffied up to head to mom's friend Claire's wedding.  He was such a stud and very well behaved during the ceremony.  Afterwards, he showed off his walking skills for everyone at the party before Aunt Genna came to take him home for the night.

Year 2, Day 21

YAY!!!  Not only did Colton have a fantastic Friday, but now Spring Break has officially started, so he gets to spend 9 glorious days at home.  This should give him plenty of time to practice his new favorite game: dipping his hands in Chipper's water bowl and then clapping the wet hands together (seriously he did this over and over again today).

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Year 2, Day 20

Colton had a very normal, uneventful day at the babysitter's today...no confrontations today thank goodness.  Afterwards, he joined mom at home, where he was in a very testy mood for most of the afternoon.  He must have been awfully hungry because as soon as he had some chicken nuggets his mood greatly improved...phew!  After dinner, it was play time with mom and dad and then bedtime.

Year 2, Day 19

Colton's mystery fever appears to be gone and he was back at the babysitter's house today.   They did have to report that he has become a little mischevious lately though...taking other kids' toys and today he bit another baby's finger.  In Colton's defense (oh lord, I'm becoming that parent I hate!), the little boy stuck his finger in Colton's mouth AND the little boy had pulled Colton's hair earlier, so even the babysitters thought it was justified.  Clearly, we are going to need some work on discipline around here.

Year 2, Day 18

Colton stayed home sick with mom today.  Luckily, though, he seemed to be 1000% percent better today...no fever all day, playing, and in a good mood.  Mom really enjoyed watching baby boy play today.  He is so much more intentional with his actions and takes a lot of time to explore his world.  One of his favorite activities was to climb in and out of the chair Aunt Genna gave him for his birthday.  He also really enjoyed playing with his brother.  Colton is beginning to actually throw the ball for Chipper, so Chipper is starting to warm up to him a bit better.

Year 2, Day 17

GRRRR!  It appears Colton is sick again.  The babysitters called this morning to report that Colton had a 103 degree temperature.  Mom called the doctor...they said to come straight in...she freaked out a bit and had dad meet them there.  Turns out Colton just has a virus of some sort; she actually said he looks perfect besides his fever, so I guess we'll just have to wait this out.  Colton was pretty miserable most of the day, but was feeling MUCH better after his dose of Tylenol.  In fact, he was playing and walking all around and certainly had a strong appetite.  Fingers crossed this passes quickly, especially since mom has certainly taken plenty of time off of work this year!

Year 2, Day 16

The weather was beautiful today in Virginia Beach, and Colton had a fun-filled day to go along with it.  He started off his day by joining mom and dad for breakfast at the Broken Egg.  In the afternoon, he finally got a chance to get outside and play with his sandbox his Papa Sr. had gotten him for his birthday.  There still is no actual sand in the box, but Colton LOVED it.  In fact, he cried when mom and dad finally insisted he get out.  At night, he met Meme and Papa for dinner and Master's watching at Chicks.  All in all, it was a perfect spring day!

Year 2, Day 15

Colton spent a nice Saturday with mom while Dad went out golfing.  They ran some errands during which Colton was a great sport.  He really liked walking around the stores and exploring.  At night, he joined mom and dad for dinner at Gordon Biersch.  He loved his corn dog and was such a good boy even though dinner ran well past his bedtime.

Year 2, Day 14

Yay for a happy Friday!  Colton spent his day playing with his friends at the babysitter's house.  At night, he joined mom, dad, and mom's friend Kristina for dinner out at......Wild Wing (did you see that coming?).  Baby boy is starting to get a bit restless when eating out.  Instead, he seems anxious to show off his walking skills around the entire restaurant.  Actually, we think he just likes all the compliments and attention he gets as he does it.
PS: Mom is slipping lately, and completely forgot to take a picture of Colton today, so here is one from a couple days ago...she promises she will get back on track.

Year 2, Days 12-13

Colton has been busy adjusting to life on a sippy cup.  It also turns out he is a huge peanut butter fan!  Mom and dad had been waiting to try the stuff in case Colton had an allergic reaction, but the babysitters were confused and thought baby boy had already had it...turns out he has been eating it (and loving it) for a month!  Yay...bring on the Reese's cups.  Colton has also been a bundle of mischief lately...this boy can get into everything, as evidenced by this run in with the rice krispies...

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

Year 2, Day 11

Hallelujah!!!  Colton seems to have taken to his sippy cup!!!  This is a big deal because mom really worried that switching Colton from his beloved bottle to a sippy cup would be a major war.  Colton was also happy to have his dad back home.  The whole family was able to go out to dinner before coming back home to settle in for the night.

Monday, April 4, 2011

Year 2, Day 10

Colton spent a good day at the babysitter's house, but was not very happy with mom when he got home and she would not give him a bottle.  Mom has started the difficulty process of trying to wean Colton from his beloved bottle...let's just say, Colton is not going to make this easy.  Picture hysterical sobbing, bright red face, and basic patheticness!  Colton did take a break from his hysterics to eat some tomatoes and chicken nuggets (with ketchup, of course!) and then to take a bath.  After the bath, mom gave in and gave baby boy his bottle and voila...perfect again!  The good news is after his bottle mom tried again to introduce Colton to the cup (no sippy) and he seemed to really enjoy it this time...hmmm, maybe we're on to something!
check out the ketchup in the ear:)

Year 2, Day 9

Colton must have been worn out from his late night the day before because he slept until 8:15AM!  By then, Dad had left for his 3 day jaunt to Washington DC, so Colton spent the day keeping mom company.  They ran lots of errands together...baby boy was an excellent sport...and then came home for some play time.  At night, Colton joined mom, Meme, and Papa for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen.  Aside from enjoying the company, Colton learned that he really loves ketchup, even though it got all over him!

Saturday, April 2, 2011

Year 2, Day 8

Colton had a fantastic Saturday.  He started his day off by running some errands with mom while Dad was at work.  Once Dad was off, he came back home to play with everyone, take his nap, and get ready for the evening.  At night, he joined mom, dad, Meme, Papa, Uncle Ryan, and Aunt KC at CP Shuckers to watch the VCU game.  Unfortunately, VCU didn't pull off the win, but baby boy had a really good time walking around the restaurant and playing.

Year 2, Day 7

Colton was in a good mood today.  He can now stand up totally on his own (doesn't need mom or some furniture's help) and is completely mobile...the boy can get anywhere quickly.  Colton is clearly very proud of himself these days.  At night, he joined Mom, Dad, and Uncle Jordan at the Wild Wing.  Dad finally let Colton try hot dogs (he's been scared he would choke), and baby boy LOVED them!
