Year 2, Day 93

Colton was super busy today.  Mom had a doctor's appointment this morning (she got to hear the baby's strong heartbeat...YAY!), so Meme picked Colton up and they set out to run some errands.  When mom was done, she met them at Target, and then headed to TJ Maxx, Panera, and Office Max...whew!  After all that, Colton decided to pay dad (and Papa) a visit at work, but was a little tired by the time he got there so he didn't stay long.  After a nice nap, Colton was ready to go again, so he joined mom and Aunt Genna (dad was working late) for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen and then came home to take a very splashy bath (Aunt Genna taught him a new trick).

Year 2, Days 91 and 92

Colton spent yesterday at the pool with mom (he LOVES the water), while today was spent at the doctor's office for his checkup and then errand running.  At 15 months, Colton has cracked the 20 pound mark (finally!) and weighs 21 pounds, 3 ounces and is 30 inches tall.  He's a little peanut, but perfectly proportioned, just how we like it:)  Everything else was perfect too, and Colton got his last round of shots (at least until he's 4!).  Although it's been said before, Colton now does the cutest thing ever: he dances (well stomps in place) when told to "dance."  Dad is going to bring home the video camera so we can capture it, but for now here he is in mid-dance.

Year 2, Day 90

Colton slept in nice and late (until 9:00!) this morning.  Once up, he headed over to mom and dad's old townhouse with everyone (Chipper included) for one last visit and clean up before the house is no longer ours (hallelujah...finger crossed).  It was very clear after a few minutes that it's a good thing we no longer live there as Colton was quick to find and explore the stairs and Chipper managed to bust out the front door...no worries, he was retrieved.  Colton spent the rest of the day at home, and spent his evening with Aunt Genna who was nice enough to babysit him so mom and dad could get a nice dinner out.

Year 2, Days 88 and 89

Colton has had a busy couple of days.  On Friday, he joined mom and Aunt Genna at the JCC pool.  Our little daredevil was a bit of a handful there, though, because he wanted to run everywhere.  At night, he went over to his grandparent's house for a cookout.  Today, he joined mom's friend Katie and his friend Savannah (and a bunch of other people!) at Meme and Papa's beach.  Colton was a little slow to warm up, but once he did there was no stopping him: he was running into the waves and up and down the beach and even gave Savannah a kiss (on the arm).  For dinner, he met Meme and Papa at Todd Jurich's Burger Bar.

Year 2, Day 87

With not such pretty weather hanging around VB this morning, Colton and mom got off to a slow start considering they really had no plans.  After his morning trip to the JCC, Colton ran a quick errand and then came home to play outside, eat some lunch, and play in his playroom.  As he was finishing, Aunt Genna showed up (she is now officially a Va. Beach resident and will be staying with us for a few days until her residence is ready).  Aunt Genna hung out with Colton (well, Colton napped for most of it) while mom went to the dentist and when she got home, he learned to watch tv...it turns out he LOVES "Blue's Clues" and was totally captivated by it. When dad got home, Colton joined everyone for Mexican and then a trip to the Skinny Dip.

Year 2, Day 86

Colton had another lovely summer day.  After hitting the JCC this morning (and surviving the fire drill scare), he was off to run a few errands with mom and pick up some lunch at Panera.  Once gobbling down the grilled cheese, he took his nap and then woke up to play in his playroom, his new favorite room in the house!  When dad got home, he supervised him grilling dinner and then ate with everyone.

Year 2, Day 85

Colton spent the first official day of summer enjoying the season.  After mom's workout at the JCC, he joined her for some time in the pool.  Colton was not a big fan of all the spray things, but did LOVE the pool, especially the stairs and jumping in.  He even allowed mom to help him float on his back and went under a few times (on accident), but came up smiling.  I think we may have a water baby on our hands (he must be following in his mom's foot steps).  The pool and sun wore Colton out, so he came home to take a nap.  Once he woke up, he spent some time playing in his sandbox and then ate dinner with mom and dad before going to get some frozen yogurt and calling it a night.

Year 2, Day 84

Colton was a good sport on his first day of summer vacation as he checked off some errands with mom.  After the morning stop at the JCC, he joined her for an oil change, and then went to Target and the Teeter.  Colton really was a fantastic boy the whole time and is so much fun to be around.  Colton has so many new tricks these days: he lifts his shirt up to show his belly when he hears "belly," he makes the spider hand motions to "Itsy, Bitsy Spider," he gives kisses to dogs, statues, and sometimes even mom and dad (and sometimes with tongue...yikes!), and he loves to dance!

Year 2, Day 83

Although he talked to all of them, Colton wanted to wish his father, grandfathers, and great grandfathers a happy Father's Day!  Colton had a really great day with his dad, taking him to the Boardwalk Art Show and then to lunch at the Jewish Mother.  After resting up, he was excited to join Papa for a cookout at his house.

Year 2, Day 82

Dad was busy with a golf tournament today, so Colton headed over to Meme and Papa's with mom for a fun beach day.  Papa dug him his own private pool in the sand, took him for a walk, and Meme taught him her best talent: floating in the water.  In fact, Colton liked it so much he even pretended to fall asleep for a bit on the float!  After he left the beach, he came home to take his nap and then was surprised by dad who came home early and joined everyone for dinner at CP Shuckers.

Year 2, Days 80 and 81

Today was a big day for Colton (and mom)!  After officially resigning yesterday, Colton stopped by his babysitter's house this morning to say goodbye and then joined mom at school to turn in her keys and finish up some last minute stuff.  And then that was it...Colton and mom are now officially stay-at-homers!  They managed to tackle quite a bit of errands and clean up, too, in their first day off.  For dinner, Colton joined mom, dad, and Uncle Jordan for dinner at Gordon Biersch, where he managed to get more ketchup/mashed potatoes on his face than in his mouth.

Year 2, Day 79

Colton headed to the babysitter's house for his last full day today (YAY!).  Unfortunately, they reported that Colton was running a fever around his naptime.  They gave him some Tylenol and by the time mom picked him up, he seemed to be ok.  He played just fine all night, including with his cool friend in the mirror.  So, hopefully this will be a quick-lived fever.

Year 2, Day 78

Colton had a good day at the babysitter's house today and then went to Target with mom to pick up some stuff after school.  He had a great time at Target, acting like he was the star of a parade or something and waving to everything and everyone we passed...obviously, someone has a new talent he likes to show off!  Once home, Colton was having a good old time playing hide and go seek with everyone (he likes to hide and have others come seek!).  Colton also got to use his own fork tonight at dinner after mom picked him up some today!

Year 2, Day 77

Colton was given a nice surprise treat this morning: Aunt Genna came over to watch him in the morning and then take him to visit mom and her students one last time for the year.  The first graders were VERY excited to see him and probably scared him a bit as they wouldn't give him much space to move about.  Nonetheless, he had a good time visiting with them.  Afterwards, Aunt Genna took him over to his babysitter's house for the afternoon.  Once mom picked him up, he hit the JCC and then came home for the night.

And yes...for those of you who are extra observant (***Genna***), these pictures are technically from yesterday, but they give a really good view of baby boy's hair cut, so we're using them today!

Year 2, Day 76

Colton had a fun, but busy day.  He started the day off with breakfast at the Kempsville Grill and then went to visit his great grandmother.  He was very happy to see she was doing very well and even noticed his new haircut!  After coming home to rest up for the afternoon, he hit up Harborfest with all of his aunts and uncles (from both sides!).  Colton wasn't quite sure what to make of the whole thing but took it all in.  He then joined everyone for dinner at Tortilla West before going home to hit the sack!

Year 2, Day 75

Today was a big one for our little man: Colton went and got his first haircut.  Like most other things, he was a really good sport about the whole experience and seemed to enjoy it, especially the steering wheel and animal crackers part.  Meme and Papa were anxious to see the new do before they leave for Florida, so Colton met them, Aunt Genna, Uncle Ryan, and Aunt KC for dinner at Havana, where he once again got one of those "he's such a good baby" compliments!
enjoying Taste Unlimited before the haircut (note the curls)

and we've begun...

Year 2, Day 74

Colton was happy to return to his friends at the babysitter's house today.  He was even happier, though, that today was his last Friday there...yep, that's right, the school year is quickly coming to a close and Colton is just as excited as mom is to start the next chapter of their life.  For dinner, he joined mom and dad for dinner at Outback where he acted as the Outback greeter, waving to everyone as they walked by.

Year 2, Day 73

Colton spent his day at his grandparents house today.  Before he left, he did some playing in one of his favorite spots: under the kitchen table.  Once home, he enjoyed playing again and then ate dinner (with his fork!) before taking a bath and hitting the sack.

Year 2, Day 72

Colton is starting to like these doctor's appointments of Mom's, as he got to get picked up early from the babysitter's house again.  Lucky for him and mom (but not so much for Meme who was almost at the house to watch Colton by the time the call came), mom's appointment got cancelled since she was just pregnant about a year ago, so Colton and mom headed straight home to take his nap and relax.  Once he was up, he did lots of playing, including in his sandbox.  Our little boy is growing up so much lately...he gives Chipper his treat in the morning, waves hello and good bye to everyone, and even started using a fork tonight at dinner!

Year 2, Day 71

Colton enjoyed a fun, but messy (he must have had syrup of some sort with his lunch because he was wearing about 1/2 of it in his hair) day at the babysitter's house.  Once mom picked him up, he came home and spent a little bit of time splashing in his pool, although he seemed to really just enjoy walking around the yard in his diaper!

Year 2, Day 70

Colton started his day off like normal, but then got picked up early by Meme because Mom had her doctor's appointment to go to.  Although I'm sure most of you reading this already know the big news, in case you don't we can now officially reveal that:
COLTON IS GOING TO BE A BIG BROTHER!!!!
Mom and Dad found out today that baby Hobbs #2 is due to arrive Jan. 6, 2012, although the doctor has already hinted that we may be able to pull off a late December arrival (dad wants it for the tax break and mom just wants to wrap this party up before the New Year), but obviously healthy and happy are our #1 concern.  Baby #2 appears to be developing right along track...we even saw 4 limb buds, so luckily we can rest assured that our little one will have two arms and two legs!
After the big appointment, the family went out for a celebratory Mexican dinner and Skinny Dip (the yogurt place, not an actual dip:))
Today's picture is actually from several weeks ago when we revealed the exciting secret to Meme and Papa, but Colton really wanted to share it with you.  In case you can't read the shirt, it says "Guess whoo's going to be a big Brother?  Colton"

Year 2, Day 69

This morning, Colton slept in quite a bit.  Once he was up, he joined mom and dad for breakfast at the Broken Egg.  He really enjoyed the french toast and was very happy to put the syrup in his hair.  After breakfast, mom dropped dad and Colton off at home so she could go run some errands.  Colton played at home, took a short nap, and got really good at "jumping" off his chair (we think he was more excited to fall than to do it successfully).  For dinner, Colton joined mom, dad, Uncle Ryan, and Aunt KC at Wild Wing Cafe.

Year 2, Days 67 and 68

Colton has been a busy boy (as usual).  On Friday, after spending his day at the babysitter's house, Colton came home with mom and her friend Mary for some playtime.  Mom's friend Kristina also came over as everyone was waiting for Dad to get home, so Colton really enjoyed putting his flirting/showing off skills to work around all the women.  Once Dad got home, it was time to head to Mom's friend Melissa's house for her husband's retirement party (he retired from the Marines).  Colton loved the party, although sitting still was not in the cards for him.  He watched the big kids play (and tried to join in), kicked a ball around, and ran on the golf course ALL night!
On Saturday, Colton should have been exhausted, but wasn't it seems.  He joined Mom, Meme, and Papa for a fun beach day (the weather was too pretty to resist).  When he got home, he took a much-needed nap (although he tried to fight it for awhile!) and woke up to join Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Jordan for dinner at Surfrider.

Thursday, June 2, 2011

Year 2, Day 66

Colton started his day off at the babysitter's house as normal,  but then Meme came to pick him up because mom was supposed to have a doctor's appointment (the appointment ended up getting cancelled!).  So, Colton was lucky to get to spend his day at the beach instead of at the house.  Mom picked him up after school and took him home to play with Chipper, have some dinner, and take his bath.

Year 2, Day 65

Thank goodness Colton was in a much better mood today after taking some good naps at the babysitter's house today.  After being done there, he went to the JCC and then picked up some Moe's for dinner since dad was planning on working late (it is 97 degrees after all!).  After dinner, Colton took his bath as usual, but is now very much enjoying climbing out of the bathtub when he is done.  He is clearly very proud of his new accomplishment.
