January 30-31, 2012

The boys have been busy taking advantage of this awesome weather in Va. Beach.  On Monday, they spent the morning running a couple errands with mom, including getting themselves some new clothes (!), before coming home to go on a walk/run.  They then spent their night with dad who was kind enough to watch them so mom could go have a ladies' night with Aunt Genna and some friends.  Today, Colton went off to school (where they said he had a really good day), while mom and Levi took care of some stuff around the house.  When Colton got home, everyone enjoyed some outdoor play time before naps.  After the naps, Colton and Levi went to Mt. Trashmore for another walk/run with mom followed by some play time for Colton.  After dinner, the boys took their first bath together...as you can tell from the picture, Colton enjoyed it a little more than Levi did!

January 28-29, 2012

Luckily everyone woke up Saturday to find that dad had recovered from his illness the night before.  The family still took it pretty easy through Saturday morning though to make sure he was 100%, but once it was determined that he was, the boys were excited to go to the ODU basketball game (Levi's first!).  After the game, they joined their aunts and uncles and the Moorheads for dinner at AW Shucks.
On Sunday, Levi and Colton joined mom and dad for some car shopping.  Colton loved running through the lot, touching all the cars, pointing out their doors, and saying "vroom" over and over again!  After some naps, the family met Meme and Papa for dinner at Zia Maries.

January 27, 2012

Wow!  What a busy day for the boys!  It started off with a trip to the JCC for Colton's preschool Open House...Levi accompanied mom to the talk/tour while Colton spent his morning in the babysitting room.  Once that was done, everyone took Chipper to the groomer for his haircut (Colton repeatedly pointed out all the dogs for us) before heading to the Bounce House to meet Quiana and Patrick for some playtime.  And if that wasn't enough, they made a stop at Panera for some lunch before heading home for naps.  At night, they joined Aunt Genna and Jimmy for dinner at Wild Wing (dad was home sick).

January 26, 2012

Colton began his day at school, while Levi spent his morning escorting Mom through her errands (luckily he seems to have inherited his brother's easy-going, shopping-friendly personality).  Once it was time to pick up Colty, the boys joined mom for another walk at Mt. Trashmore finished off by a playground trip for Colton.  After all that running around, it was time to come home and nap (for Colton) and practice some tummy time for Levi.  Amazingly, Levi managed to roll over on his first try (a completely legit roll over too...like flat on his belly to flat on his back), but we're thinking it was more beginner's luck!

January 25, 2012

With about 4 months since his last haircut, Colton was in desperate need of a good trim today so he loaded up his brother and Mom and headed to Pigtails and Crewcuts.  Meme stopped by to catch a glimpse of Colton.  When he was done, the boys headed to the One Hour office to visit dad, Papa, Uncle Ryan, and everyone else.  Colton enjoyed showing off, while Levi pretty much slept through the whole visit.  Once home, the boys went on a walk (and quick playground pit stop trip) and then it was back home for nap time.  While Colton was napping, Levi and mom snuck off for a bit (don't worry...Meme was here with Colton) for a doctor's visit to determine that Levi does indeed have a clogged tear duct (no worries again...it is very common and pretty much just part of being a baby!).  But we did find out that he is already weighing in a 8 pounds, 11 ounces!  With a clean bill of health (basically!), the whole family went out for a Mexican dinner before calling it a night.

January 24, 2012

Colton spent his morning in school, while mom and Levi spent the morning straightening the house up.  With temperatures in the mid-60's, though, they made sure to take advantage of the perfect weather and get outside once Colton was out of school.  The boys and mom enjoyed a nice walk at Mt. Trashmore and then finished it off with some time on the playground when they were done.  Colton was beyond excited to get some play time in, and Levi enjoyed sleeping at the park!

January 23, 2012

All of Levi's sleeping yesterday (and yes, he made it through the night just fine...phew!) must have been caused by a growth spurt or something because he is now fitting into a whole new group of his clothes!  He woke up and spent the first part of his morning playing in the playroom with Colton (ok more like watching Colton arrange the crayons for the umpteenth time).  Afterwards, mom loaded up the boys to head to Target and the Teeter...actually, they got to go to Target twice since mom manage to leave her wallet at home.  Both boys did an awesome job, though, and were actually amazingly easy to have out.

January 21-22, 2012

The boys have enjoyed a pretty lazy weekend (at least by our standards!).  On Saturday, the spent an hour or so at their grandparents' house while mom and dad were out looking at a car.  At night, Aunt Genna came over to watch them, so mom and dad could enjoy their first planned date night.

Sunday was even lazier, especially for Levi who managed to sleep just about the whole day (yes, we're dreading what this means for tonight's sleep...).  Colton, meanwhile, spent a lot of time in his playroom (he's grown very fond of markers and crayons...not so much coloring with them, but with taking them out of the box and putting them back in) and then in his room playing with his newly installed basketball hoop.  Everyone managed to get out for a quick dinner at Outback and then it was back home for the night.

January 20, 2012

Levi, Colton, and Mom had a couple of errands to run this morning.  When they returned home, Meme was nice enough to come over and keep Levi company while Mom and Colton made a quick trip to the JCC (Colton for some play time and mom for a quick walk on the treadmill).  After nap time, Aunt Genna came over for some visiting with the boys.  For dinner, they met up with their grandparents at Wild Wing.
On a side note, Levi was sporting one of Colton's old onesies today.  Mom looked through Colton's blog book and discovered he took his two week picture in the same outfit, so Mom had to stage the same pose to get a comparison picture:
Levi: week 2ish
                                                  And

Colton: week 2

And of course, all grown-up  Colton had to get in on the action:

January 19, 2012

Today was the big first day for Mom, Colton, and Levi to try out this whole thing by themselves.  And with the day complete, we can say it went pretty well.  As usual, Colton was in school for the morning (mom, Levi, and Chipper managed to squeeze in a walk while he was there...shh, don't tell him!), but the afternoon was spent at home playing in the playroom, out back, and with a little bit of the iPad.  After scarfing down a Chinese dinner (Colton loves some rice...Levi, on the other hand, slept through the whole thing), everyone got ready for bed.

January 18, 2012

Colton, Levi, and Mom woke up and began their day with some play time.  Once Meme came over, everyone headed to Target and then mom, Levi, and Colton continued on to run a few more errands while Meme went home to take Papa to the airport.  After lunch, mom and all the boys (yep, Chipper included) went on a walk.  After taking some good naps (well, Colton, not so much Levi), Meme came back over to join everyone for dinner.  On a positive note, Colton seems to be taking much more of an interest in his younger brother and usually in a nice way, kissing him and comforting him when he is crying.

January 17, 2012

Meme came back over today to help everyone get through the day, and luckily things seem to be settling down around here.  Mom took Colton to school and then came back home to pick up Levi and Meme for Levi's weekly weigh-in at the doctor.  He is up to 7 pounds, 13.5 oz (a whole 10 oz. above his birth weight for those curious!) and looks fantastic.  He even gets a week off before heading back for his month checkup.  Once done, Mom headed back to pick Colton up from school (they reported he has been doing really well there) and then head home for some play time.  In the afternoon, Colton and Levi greeted some visitors including their Aunt Genna and Aunt Debbie before settling in for the night.

January 16, 2012

Colton woke up this morning, proudly sporting his new Elmo pajamas and very happy to be in them!  He was even happier when he found out he got to spend his day with Meme who graciously volunteered to come over and help us (for the next few days too) since dad is now back at work.  The big outing of the day was heading out to the Teeter.  Other than that, the boys spent their day at home with Meme and mom and were happy to see dad when he got home.

January 14-15, 2012

This weekend, Levi got his introduction to the busy Hobbs lifestyle around here.  On Saturday, the family spent the morning at McArthur Mall doing a little shopping.  Levi was nice enough to let his brother spend some (much-needed!) time in the play area before leaving.  After taking some afternoon naps, the boys met up with Aunt Genna and Jimmy at No Frill Grill for dinner before heading over to Uncle Ryan and Aunt KC's house for KC's CPA celebration.  Both boys were quite popular there (although Colton definitely stole the show) and hung in pretty well until Levi decided he needed a break from the noise and lights.

On Sunday, Levi was quite the star at his own photo shoot (don't worry...Colton was sure to get in on the action as well!).  Once it was done, he headed off to visit his grandfather for his birthday and then his great-grandparents whom he had yet to meet.  With all the running around for the weekend, the family was happy to spend a quiet Sunday afternoon at home watching football and relaxing.

January 13, 2012

The boys woke up to enjoy a relatively low-key morning around the house while some visitors stopped by (Meme, followed by dad's cousin Quiana and Patrick).  All that visiting wore everyone out, and luckily it was nap time by the time they all left.  At night, the family ventured out for their first official dinner out...at Wild Wing, of course...and happily found it to be a pretty easy experience.

January 12, 2012

Whew!  What a difference a day makes around here...Colton woke up in a much better mood today.  He headed off to school and seemed to have a good day while he was there.  With him gone and dad off for a bit, mom, Levi, and Chipper went for a short walk around the neighborhood.  Once Colton was home, he played outside with mom and dad and really enjoyed his wagon rides in the neighborhood.  He came home to take his nap and then woke up to play with Aunt Genna, who had stopped by for a visit.  At night, Colton and Levi both spent some time with their grandparents who babysat for a bit so mom and dad could head out to dinner.

January 11, 2012

After suffering through a pretty sleepless night, the family woke up determined to have a good day.  After playing in the playroom for some time this morning, everyone loaded up and headed out to Babies R Us.  Once done there, we had our first meal out as a family of 4 (at Jimmy John's, but still dad seemed relieved that we survived!).  On the way home, we stopped by the pet store to get Colton a special big brother gift: his very own fish (he has been quite fond of making fish noises recently!), which he proudly named Blue. Once home, everyone relaxed for the evening, enjoyed dinner, and then Colton helped mom give Levi a bath before taking his own.

January 10, 2012

Colton headed back to school today, giving dad a chance to get some errands done (including bringing home Colton's new dresser!) and mom and Levi a chance to head to Target thanks to mom's friend Mary's willingness to chauffeur!  Levi seemed to love Target, staying up the entire time in the store.  Once he got home, Levi headed right back out to pick up Colton from school who despite having had a major fit when dad left him in the morning seemed to have done an awesome job.  After naps, the family went on a quick walk to test-drive the double stroller and then came home to settle in for the night.

January 9, 2012

our little ham...that's what he does when
you ask him to "smile"
Today was a good day in the Hobbs household.  The day started off with mom and dad taking Levi to the doctor for his weekly checkup/weigh-in (Colton stayed home with his grandma).  After losing his pretty standard weight in the hospital, mom and dad were happy to find out Levi is back to weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces (very close to his birthweight!) and measures 19 3/4 inches long now (a whole 1/4 inch growth...sarcasm!).  The best news, though, was that the doctor confirmed that everything is just perfect with our new little boy.  After the doctor, the family picked up Colton to go on our first family Teeter trip.  Despite needing two carts in the store, it was actually a pretty easy trip.  Once home, the boys gave mom and dad a really special treat when they both decided to take a nap at the same time (after Colton threw a fit for a good 1 1/2 hours!!!).  Once they were both up, Colton and mom enjoyed some much-needed play time before dinner, baths, and "Sesame Street."  It was certainly nice to get into somewhat of a routine around here and at the end of the day, mom and dad both agreed it had certainly been the easiest one yet!

January 8, 2012

Colton and Levi spent a pretty uneventful Sunday at home with mom and dad.  Aside from Colton's quick outing to the grocery store with dad (Levi stayed home with mom), the rest of the day was spent getting ready for the big Steelers game.  Unfortunately, Levi's first game was not very successful, but at least he got to spend the night with his Meme and Papa, Uncle Ryan, Aunt KC, and Aunt Genna, all of whom took turn holding him and playing with his big brother.

January 7, 2012

Levi did a good job on his first night at home and then woke up to begin his first full day there.  Colton woke up clearly excited to see that everyone was back at home with him.  With the weather absolutely gorgeous in Va. Beach today, the family made sure to take advantage of it and take a quick trip to the park.  Colton gave Dad a good workout while Mom spent time with Levi on the bench.  Later in the afternoon, Colton and Levi welcomed a line-up of visitors, starting with Meme and Papa, and then Uncle Ryan and Aunt KC, and finally Aunt Genna and Jimmy.  Colton was lucky enough to get to leave with Uncle Ryan and Aunt KC who were nice enough to take him to the ODU basketball game.  Levi stayed home with mom and ordered some Chinese food.

January 6, 2012

The whole family was very eager to leave the hospital today, and luckily the hospital seemed to be just as eager (or at least agreeable) to us leaving as well!  After mom and Levi were both officially discharged around 11, everyone loaded up the car (Colton looked a little suspicious of his new partner in the back seat) and headed home. Once home, the day was spent getting used to the new surroundings and routine.

January 4-5, 2012

For those of you who didn't know, our absence over the last couple of days has a very good explanation: Colton is pleased to announce the arrival of his little brother, Levi Shane.  Levi was born at 8:14 AM on Wednesday, January 4th.  He weighed 7 pounds, 3.5 oz. and measured 19.5 inches long.  He has spent the last couple days in the hospital, anxiously waiting to get home.  Colton has visited his brother and played in the hospital room, reveling in all of his usual attention.  It is pretty clear that Colton has no idea that this little baby will soon be coming home with him, but he does seem to enjoy him for now!
