After going on a brief Chipper-hunt this morning (he was out for a walk with his new best friends across the street), Colton and Levi were excited to head to the Flip Flop Farmer for some strawberry picking.  Despite trudging through some muddy spots, the boys collected plenty of bright, red berries to take home!

After school today (for Colton) and errands (for Levi), the boys were eager to cool off.  They helped mom wash her car and then hit the pool for some more fun before naps!

May 19-26, 2014

As we mentioned yesterday, Colton and Levi unexpectedly made a trip to Florida last week to say good bye to their beloved Big Papa.  While we would have rather been there for other reasons, it was nice to get so much cousin time in.  Plus, the boys did get to take advantage of some Florida fun: time in the swimming pool, a trolley ride to the beach, a boat tour, even a pilgrimage to Coconut Creek, and a trip to Jaxsons (of course!).  And the boys did remarkably well on the airplane rides.
Once they returned, Colton and Levi spent Memorial Day at the JCC pool where Colton was thrilled to discover a new slide there this summer!  Afterwards, the boys had their friend Grayson over for a little cookout.

State of the Blog

We started this blog over 4 years ago on the day of Colton's birth.  At the time, both Colton's Gigi and his Big Papa were living out of town, and this blog served to keep them up-to-date on Colton's happenings.  Eventually, Gigi moved back to Va. Beach and other people read our little blog for updates on our boy...and eventually boys..., but the main constant was Big Papa. According to just about anyone we came in contact with in Florida during the times we were fortunate enough to visit, this blog was a highlight of Big Papa's days.  He diligently checked in on his great grandsons, eager to read what they had been up to and excited to catch glimpses of them growing up. Over time, this blog became our link to him and our gift to him. As the years passed, we speculated that we may even stop the blog if/when Big Papa ever passed.
But now that the time has sadly come, we are determined to continue on.  For one, as much as this blog was/is for those select few that read regularly, it has also served as invaluable documentary of our boys' lives that we are happy to have on record forever.  But more importantly, we believe, as the rabbi said at Big Papa's funeral, that he is very much still a part of our lives.  We don't know if they have Internet where he is, but we are confident Big Papa is watching these boys and we intend to continue to make him proud.

May 17-18, 2014

With so many special events happening around VB this weekend, Colton and Levi were excited to get out and experience them!  On Saturday, they took Chipper to the K9 Carnival at Mt. Trashmore, a special treat not only for our pup but for our pup-lovers as well as they had a blast meeting so many dogs!  At night, they headed to the Chesapeake Jubilee with our neighbors.  After trying out some rides and looking around, Colton and Levi went back to Gammy and Pop's house for the fireworks with Gavin and their new friend, Gammy and Pop's neighbor who they were both very fond of.
On Sunday, dad was golfing, but Colton, Levi, and Mom headed to the Israel Fest at the JCC.  The boys got to do some bounce houses, feed some animals, play putt putt, get some very special balloon animals, and even ride a camel!  After naps, they ventured down to Norfolk to see the big rubber duck floating in the Hague and then got dinner at No Frill Grill before heading home and calling it a weekend.
