Colton seemed to be back to 100% (or close to it!) and just in time as today was his first day of school. When he woke up, he was excited to see the "back to school fairy" had visited and left him some goodies in his bookbag.
Once he was dressed and ready, it was time to get going. Of course, mom made him stop on the front porch for his obligatory picture. Colton wasn't interested in wearing his bookbag or holding the sign mom had made for him, but he did entertain his brother some.
With pictures done, the boys loaded up the car and set off to meet dad for a special doughnut breakfast.
And then Colton arrived at school...
And Levi made himself right at home in the classroom as well...
When mom and Levi came back to pick him up, he was in an excellent mood and seemed to have had a really good time. And because no special day is complete without a little celebratory cake, Colton enjoyed some "back to school" cake after his dinner (Levi REALLY enjoyed his tastes as well!)

Well, the last two days have certainly been a bit trying around here. Colton woke up Sunday with a fever and some pretty terrible breath, so mom took him to Patient First, convinced that he had strep throat.
The good news was that he didn't, but he did have some very "angry tonsils" and was given an antibiotic. Over the course of the day, he grew wary of his medicines, though, and eventually absolutely refused to take them, causing his fever to climb dangerously. Eventually, mom and dad came up with some tricks to get the Tylenol in him and just gave up on the antibiotic.
The next day Colton got to return to the doctor for another appointment, this time to deal with the fact that he still needed the antibiotic. Luckily, he seemed to be feeling much better and had even gone all morning without a fever (so much so that he even made a visit to his Meet the Teacher), but the doctor confirmed what he had learned yesterday: Colton has a pretty nasty case of tonsillitis. After getting his shot, he was on his way...and hopefully on the road to getting better! Levi was a good sport through this whole ordeal, and seemed to really enjoy the whole doctor's office experience (although we currently have our fingers crossed that he won't now get sick, especially after putting all kinds of junk in the "sick room" in his mouth).

Colton and Levi had fun enjoying one of their last days of summer by spending it at the zoo. Both boys loved seeing the animals, riding on the train, and playing in the fountains. At night, they went over to their grandparents house for Aunt Stephanie's birthday dinner.

Colton and Levi started their morning off at the JCC (as usual) and then went to visit mom's friend Kristina's new classroom. After that, they returned home for some play time at home before joining mom and dad at their fantasy football draft. And in our own little version of "how much fun can you have at the door?"....
